Associate Producer - Insight

This role is classified as Level 2 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a base salary range of $68,239 – $73,916). This role is also entitled to additional overtime allowances

The Department 

Insight is Australia's leading discussion show for ideas and powerful first-person stories, offering a unique perspective on news and current affairs. Kumi Taguchi hosts and drives discussions that examine a single topic. Insight brings together, in one place people with personal experience on an issue, as well as experts and those with strong opinions. 

Over 30 years, Insight has come to be known for challenging expectations by exploring topics that no one else does. It’s all underpinned by exhaustive research and a commitment to fair and balanced reporting.   

The Role 

With that in mind, we are looking for an Associate Producer to join the Insight team. You will use your strong story-telling skills and a broad knowledge of current issues, national and international affairs to support a show Producer produce imaginative and compelling television. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contact, schedule, and pre-interview guests for studio forums.
  • Collaborate with the producer to prepare briefs and structure episodes.
  • Suggest and research tape stories for inclusion in studio discussions.
  • Assist the presenter with editorial and production matters alongside the producer.
  • Support and work with online producers to develop and promote digital content.

About you  

You’ll be ready for your next big challenge and come equipped with: 

  • A passion for finding remarkable Australian stories 
  • A deadline-driven self-starter 
  • An understanding and experience with creating associated content for digital media 
  • An understanding of the SBS charter
